Oscar Bolin Interview Saanvi Kunisetty

 Oscar Bolin Interview

Saanvi Kunisetty

In the late 1980’s, Oscar Ray Bolin was convicted for the murder of three women. He was declared guilty by seven courts, all presented with the same evidence. Some of this evidence included Bolin’s hair found on the women, a match of DNA, and even Bolin’s ex-wife Cheryl saying that he admitted to murder.

Still, 28 years of jail time later, Bolin still declares that he is innocent. He claims that all the evidence was planted and tainted, and that he had never heard of or seen the women he supposedly “murdered” until he was reading newspapers and looking at photographs of the crime scene. So, was he really innocent or guilty? Perhaps, we will never know.

What we do know is that, in 2016, Bolin was executed in Florida’s death chamber. The day before the execution, Bolin was interviewed by someone from Fox News. Here, she asked him about the case, whether he was innocent or guilty, about the evidence, and about the upcoming execution.

Oscar Bolin said that he was “at peace with himself.” He continued to declare that he was innocent, and never killed those women. Regardless, after 28 years of living in his “box” of a prison, he felt that the execution would grant him freedom and release in a sense. He said, “My punishments are over. They can’t hurt me no more.”
