Poems About Dreams- Romeo and Mercutio
Saanvi Kunisetty
Two poems in Iambic Pentameter about dreams, from Romeo and Mercutio’s perspectives (from the play Romeo and Juliet).
Romeo’s Perspective:
The dreams which we see are but a blessing
They let us soar when we are ecstatic
But engulf us in dark seas when heavy
They can show us a glimpse of our future
But force us to dwell on disturbing pasts
Mercutio’s Perspective:
It is just a silly premonition
An excuse for the men who are too weak
Too frail to fight back, too feeble to try
A dream deters us from our path of life
And sends us to the brink of derangement
