Review of The Vampire's Assistant by Darren Shan; review by Aditi Patel

The Vampire’s Assistant by Darren Shan Review by Aditi Patel

After Reading the first book in the series, Cirque du Freak, I wanted to read more. The first book had ended on a cliffhanger, and I just had to know what happens next. The second book of the series has even turned into a movie. In this book, the main character, Darren, has turned into a vampire and must learn how to live. He refuses to drink blood, but starts to grow weak. Darren is called the “Vampire’s Assistant” because he is a half-vampire, who helps the real vampire named Mr. Crepsley. Darren goes to the shows, “Cirque du Freak” with the vampire, and meets other performers. He soon becomes friends with some of the other performers, who are also outcasts. Out of the performers, Darren becomes close friends with a snake boy named Evra Von. The whole book is about how Darren adapts to his new self, as a half-vampire. This book was really fun and engaging to read, and it really helps after reading the first book in the series.
