Review by Isha Patel of The Crucible by Arthur Miller

Book review of The Crucible by Arthur Miller

What a epic play! As a person who loves to read crime and horror, this play is perfect for me. If you are interested in the type of genre that I love then this play is also for you.

There are a lot of character so it a bit confusing to keep up with them in the beginning but you while soon get the hang of them and they will literally feel alive. The play has a few humorous movement but it is very dramatic to say the least.

If you are into history then this book is connected to the Salem Witch Trails and is set in Salem, Massachusetts. Honestly the best part is the reader can actually feel like they are in the court trying to find out who is innocent and who is guilty. It is not what it seems so you will be trapping to know for sure who is lying and who is not.

The play moves at a quick pace which keeps the reader engaged. Abigail Williams wants John Proctor to love her and she is going to do any and everything to achieve that even if it means accusing others of witchcraft and causing hysteria. This hysteria will eventually lead everyone to accuse each other of witchcraft and ultimately cause dysfunction in the city.

The ending is quite unexpected and unpredictable. Honestly I would literally read this play all the way through just for the ending.
