The Last Trick-or-Treater, a poem By: Sachi Dixit

 The Last Trick-or-Treater

By: Sachi Dixit

The street was almost empty now,

The laughter fading away.

Pumpkins flickered on quiet porches

as Halloween came to an end.

One last trick-or-treater

walked slowly down the road,

a bag of candy in one hand

dragging softly by their side.

Most of the porch lights were dark.

The wind pushed leaves across the street,

And the houses looked different

without the crowds and noise.

Then footsteps echoed behind them.

They stopped walking.

The sound stopped too.

They turned around,

but the street was empty

just glowing pumpkins

and shadows stretching across the pavement.

So they kept walking.

Step.

Step.

And behind them...

another step. 🎃👻
