Cable TV by Kaveeshan Gnanarajah
When you’re paying lots of money per month for hundreds of channel you never, it must make you question. Is this worth it? The transition from cable TV to streaming services is clear as day. The shift has been dramatic. Streaming services has now overtaken cable as the better way to watch TV in America. Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ dominate this industry. As these three companies rack in billions of dollars, they allow consumers to pay less money than cable while also allowing us to watch exactly what we want. With that being said, there are a lot of other companies that compete at a similar level.
Cable companies did try to adapt by making bundle services and adding certain features marketed as “on-demand”, but it was never enough. The truth is, younger generations including my own have did have cable when we were really young. But that is not happening anymore. Kids are being born into the streaming world, and there is almost no chance we are going back. Why would we as consumers sit through commercials and wait hours through boring shows until we get to the one we want when we can watch exactly what we want whenever we want? Although Cable TV is not dead yet, it is definitely on the verge of it. The question is no longer if it will disappear, it's only a matter of time until it does.
