My Playlist is My Therapy
By Anushka Bhatt
Whenever I feel like I’m spiraling—homework, expectations, drama—I plug in my AirPods, close my eyes, and let SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, or Lo-fi beats take over.
It’s not that music fixes everything. But it holds me. It says, “I get it.”
Sometimes, I don’t want a solution—I just want a beat that matches my heartbeat.
Therapists say music therapy is real. It lowers cortisol, the stress hormone. But I don’t need science to tell me that—my playlist knows me better than I do some days.
And that’s okay. Music doesn’t ask questions. It just listens back.
