Schindler’s List Movie Review
Saanvi Kunisetty
Recently, my dad brought home a movie from the library titled Schindler’s List. I could tell from the beginning that he was very excited about it. He had already watched it before (a long time ago), and he said that I must watch it as well. At first, I was not that interested. It seemed like a very old movie, the kind that I typically do not like. Still, it was historically-based, which intrigued me, so I obliged to watching it. I definitely would recommend it to others. The movie was about a rich businessman named Schindler who is a Nazi living in Germany and witnesses the beginning of the cruelty towards Jews. He creates a factory where he hires many Jews who would have been sent to concentration camps in an attempt to save them. Because of him, many Jewish descendants exist today. The movie was immensely gory, as it outlined the harsh reality of the Holocaust. People were shot directly in the head even when they didn’t do anything wrong. Families were pulled apart without thought, and even children were forced to live in such harsh conditions. Women and men were forced to strip naked so that their health could get checked and the Nazis could determine if they were even worth being alive anymore. Such things were brutal to watch and witness, but they enlightened me greatly. Oftentimes we read about history in textbooks or hear lectures about it, but we never focus on the real horrors. Perhaps we are scared, or simply do not have interest. This movie brought to attention the very truth that we tend to avoid, something that I am glad I took the time to learn about and acknowledge.
