Moving Target review
By: Nitish Raj
Moving Target, by Christina Diaz Gonzales, is a very captivating and interesting story about a teenager from America named Cassie Arroyo. Cassie is studying in Rome when she receives the news that someone tried to kill her father, and that he vanished shortly after. Then, she learns that he was attacked by a dangerous organization, named the Hastati. Moreover, she learns that their main target is her. Cassie does not know why or how she could be of importance to the organization, but she learns more about herself and her father’s disappearance as the story progresses. Cassie learns that she is one of the only people who is able to use the Spear of Destiny, and the object has the potential to change the trajectory of the world. However, the object has been missing for many years, and the Hastati are searching for the spear and those that are able to use it, such as Cassie. So Cassie must go on a quest to find out more about herself and find the spear, while also not allowing the Hastati to catch her. She goes on the run with her best friends Simone and Asher, and they face many dangers and obstacles along the way. This book is very adventurous and action-packed, and it includes several mysteries and twists as Cassie finds out more about herself on the quest. I liked how this book took a somewhat general idea of a quest, and made it very unique. Also, I liked the different twists and turns of this book, with some of them being very surprising. This book is never boring, and is always interesting to read and impossible to stop reading. I really enjoyed reading this book, and found the ending to be great and surprising.
