Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks Game 3 Review

By: Nitish Raj

The Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks met in the Fiserv Forum on Thursday, June 10th for Game 3 of the series. The Nets were winning 2-0 in the series, but the Bucks were ready to play in front of their home crowd. They needed to win this game, as going down 3-0 to the Brooklyn Nets would be an almost impossible feat to come back from. James Harden, one of the Nets’ “big three,” was still injured, and the Bucks looked to finally take advantage and win a game. When the game began, the Bucks came out on fire, and the Nets came out flat. The Bucks raced out to a 30-9 lead, before ending the first quarter 30-11. The Bucks were led by their two main stars, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. The duo scored all 30 points for the Bucks in the first quarter, with 15 points by each. However, in the second quarter, the Nets came fighting back, with key points scored by the Nets’ star duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. After the Bucks blew their huge lead, the score at halftime was 45-42, in favor of the Bucks. However, it was the Nets that went into halftime with all of the momentum. The third quarter was largely even, as the Nets outscored the Bucks 23-22 in the very low scoring quarter. Both teams were playing great defense, and it was becoming harder for each team to score. As the fourth quarter began, the Bucks had a two point lead, but the Nets would soon overtake them. The end of the game was shaping up to be a close one, as every time the Nets would try to pull away, the Bucks would answer back and keep it close. The Nets were ahead 83-80, with about a minute and a half left in the game. The Bucks would go on to score the next 6 points to squeak out an 86-83 victory, with Jrue Holiday scoring a go-ahead basket with 11 seconds left. I thought that the Nets’ offense struggled down the stretch, as they became more stagnant and allowed the Bucks to get the ball out of Kevin Durant’s hands. Also, I thought that Bruce Brown missed some easy shots down the stretch, and should have looked to get the ball back to Kevin Durant. This may have led to their defeat in the end. But, I thought that this was a great game as the Bucks were able to make the series 2-1 as they head to Game 4.
