Helen McCrory

This past week, Helen McCrory passed away at the age of 52. She was best known for bringing to life the motherly, fierce, yet dark character of Narcissa Malfoy in the series of Harry Potter, bringing her world-wide fame. Interestingly enough, Helen McCrory was supposed to play the even more important role of Bellatrix Lestrange, but after discovering that she was pregnant, the role was given to Helena Carter instead, while McCrory was cast as Narcissa. Her role as Narcissa Malfoy brought her many other opportunities of playing the villain, in films and TV shows such as Doctor Who, Penny Dreadful, and Peaky Blinders. Before this and her role in Harry Potter, she was noted to have acted in theater productions such as “The Importance of Being Earnest” and “Trelawny of the ‘Wells.’” In more recent times, she appeared in the political drama “Roadkill.” Helen McCrory’s acting brought smiles to peoples’ faces all over the world, and when necessary (as in a villainous role), fear and dread. She maintained a low-key and humble life regardless of her talent, and lived her life to her fullest. Her husband, Damian Lewis, also an actor, was devastated when he announced on social media this past Friday that his wife had passed away due to cancer. This was a shock to many, as her illness was not widely known.
