Changes I Would Make to School
Saanvi Kunisetty
I feel that our district has been really flexible, quick-thinking, resourceful, and efficient about adapting to the ever-changing situations that have been arising with the pandemic, specifically in terms of school. Since about a year ago when the pandemic began, we have been going through numerous changes to adapt to the new norm and keep learning and education as productive and effective as possible. Still, there are a few things I wish I could change about the current schedule.
Firstly, school now starts at 7:30 AM. Previously, in the schedule we followed before this one, it used to start at 9:00 AM. This, I felt, was much better. Students had the chance to cram some extra sleep into their schedule, and even get some work done before school, or simply relax if they felt like it. Personally, the early start has not been my favorite.
In addition, the two afternoon sessions after lunch that are 25 minutes each have (mostly) proved to not be very beneficial. All of my classes, except for physics, aren’t able to do anything during that time, especially after taking attendance and waiting for everyone to join and what not. We only get content covered during physics because our teacher is an extremely fast talker, and the content is always covered extremely fast since it’s an AP course. Regardless, I feel that it is very rushed, and many times, students are unable to grasp information to their full potential.
