Vacation Ideas for After COVID-19 by John Yang
Many of us have missed out on our vacation opportunities and plans since the COVID-19 pandemic began. Here are some ideas for a well deserved vacation you could take well after the pandemic ends.
First, something for those who enjoy nature, a trip to Banff National Park in Canada. Banff is about 80 miles west of Calgary, and you can book a flight for about $290 round trip per person. You may want to rent a car once you get there so that you can drive the rest of the way, but bus service is also available. Banff has some beautiful hiking trails and nature scenery. Hikers will want to visit during the summer and skiers will want to go during the winter. You’ll have to pay a small admission fee to get into the park. Banff is home to a multitude of attractions for all kinds of people, including museums, easy trails, difficult trails, drivable scenes, and plenty of photo ops.
For those who are more into city tourism, consider visiting Boston, Massachusetts. It’s drivable if you’re looking for a fun road trip, but you can also take a train or even a short flight. Especially since many of us are at the age when we might want to start thinking about colleges, or have already started looking, Boston is home to many schools to visit. You can knock out visits to BU, BC, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT and Tufts all in one shot. Add on Yale and the University of New Haven if you want to make a stop in Connecticut, which is along the way if you’re driving. Besides colleges, Boston is home to so much American history if that’s your thing - take a walk along the Freedom Trail. Otherwise, you can get some great food, see a selection of museums, take in the beautiful city, harbor and riverfront views, and even do some planespotting at Logan Airport if you enjoy that. Boston has a robust public transportation system that you can utilize to get around.
Looking for a more exotic experience? Go to Palma de Mallorca in Spain. It is a beautiful city on the island of Mallorca. There are great sandy beaches, and the city is full of old European culture and architecture. There’s also a wide selection of food and drinks. The main attraction is the Le Seu Cathedral, which is a towering complex in an elegant Gothic architecture.
