Review of Borderlands 2, video game by Chandler Wang

Borderlands 2 is a single player/co-op first-person shooter game that's a lot of fun and is a solid game all-around. The game plops the player into Pandora, a lawless land filled with loot and danger. You can choose between four different classes, which have their own unique abilities that can be upgraded as the game goes on. There are numerous different enemies throughout the world, and many, many, many different guns. There are guns that shoot lightning, fire, and acid, guns that can be thrown as grenades instead of reloading, guns that talk, guns that shoot in an infinity pattern, and more. There are not only countless different unique guns, but unique modifiers, such as having increased accuracy, damage, or fire rate, so there are countless combinations, and you will rarely get two of the same exact gun. There are also other items besides guns that will make your character stronger, such as shields or grenades, which are similarly varied and unique. It's a blast to make your way through the campaign, fighting stronger and stronger enemies as your arsenal becomes more and more ridiculous. The combat is fast-paced, chaotic, and fun, and the game has many unique boss battles that are uniquely designed and even more hectic than the normal game. The game also has a solid plot, especially in regards to its characters. It puts a lot of effort into the dialogue of each and every character, both in the voice acting and the writing. There's a lot of personality and charm in each and every character, even obscure ones that only appear in side missions. The game does an especially good job at creating Handsome Jack, the antagonist. With all the loot and enemies, the game has a ton of replayability, and I've sunk some hours into the game even after beating it. There are post game missions and modes, and you can even restart the game and try one of the other classes if you please. Overall, Borderlands 2 is a really fun and well-done game with a lot to do, and the creators put a lot of effort into the game in every area, including plot, characters, design, and gameplay. 9.5/10.
