Why Kindness Matters More Than People Think

By: Sachi Dixit

Kindness matters more than people think because even small things can change someone’s

day. Something as simple as giving a compliment, helping someone with homework, or just

listening when a person needs to talk can make them feel noticed. A lot of people are dealing

with problems that others don’t know about, so even a small act of kindness can remind

someone that they’re not completely alone. It might seem like a small thing, but it can actually

mean a lot to the person receiving it.

Kindness is also important because it spreads. When someone is treated kindly, they usually

want to treat other people the same way. One nice action can lead to another. For example, if a

student helps a classmate understand something confusing in class, that person might help

someone else later on. Over time, those small actions can make a school or group of people

feel more positive.

Kindness also helps people build better relationships. When people treat each other with

respect, it becomes easier to trust one another. Friendships become stronger, and groups like

classes or teams feel more comfortable. People are more willing to talk, ask for help, and

support each other when they know they won’t be judged or made fun of.

On the other hand, rude comments or bullying can stick with someone for a long time. Even if

the person saying it thinks it’s just a joke, the person hearing it might take it seriously.

Sometimes people start to believe those negative things about themselves. Because of that,

the way we talk to others really matters. Being kind doesn’t take much effort, but it can make

someone feel respected instead of hurt.
