When the Sun Comes Back
By: Sachi Dixit
After months of gray skies and frozen ground,
Winter finally loosened its grip.
The wind isn’t sharp anymore,
It moves softly through the trees.
Patches of snow melt into quiet puddles,
and the air smells a little cleaner.
For the first time in a while,
the sun stays out longer than the clouds.
Light spills across the sidewalks
like it had been waiting its turn.
People step outside without rushing,
faces tilted toward the warmth.
It’s not loud or annoying
just a calm kind of happiness.
Like the world slowly remembering
what it feels like to be warm again.
