Bees in Our Environment by Krisha Shah

 Bees in Our Environment

by Krisha Shah

For the past few weeks, I have seen a bunch of videos on social media platforms about bees. There are people that visit houses and public areas where bees have taken over. They safely collect and transport the bees to another space. This sparked my curiosity, which is why I began researching bees and the importance of them. Through my research, I found that bees are extremely important to the environment as they help plants and reproduce and are also extremely important to humans as they supply a large part of our food and produce substances, such as honey, which are vital in our economy (“Why Bees Are Essential”). Currently, bees are in danger due to habitat loss. Construction of roads and houses have contributed to the bee’s loss of habitat. To protect bees, beekeepers visit homes and public areas, where they collect these bees and transport them to safer areas where they can pollinate and provide for the human food supply. This helps prevent the loss of bees due to anthropogenic causes. Initially, I never realized how much bees contribute to our society, both economically and environmentally, but through social media and research I learned more about them. Now, I find myself paying more attention to my surroundings and community, especially all the insects that I was once uninterested in and hope to encourage you to do the same.
