Why I Recommend Watching The Movie “Of Mice And Men”

“Of Mice And Men” is a short novel written by John Steinbeck. The story explores many serious topics and has many important and relevant lessons. The novel had been adapted into a movie in 1992 directed by Gary Sinise. The film allows you to see the characters' expressions and get a better understanding of their relationship with other characters based on the way they act around them. This makes the story more intense and emotional and it also makes the characters easier to connect with.
One of the reasons I recommend watching his film is because of the actors' performances. The actors do a good job showing the complicated relationship between George and Lennie. Their emotions feel real and make some scenes be more impactful than they were in the book. The actors also do a good job on portraying Curley’s wife which is one of the more complicated characters in the book. The acting shows how she is misunderstood by everyone in the ranch and she doesn’t want to cause any trouble and I believe that the movie does a better job in showing this than the novella. Seeing the characters facial expressions and movement adds a better understanding of the characters.
Another reason I would recommend watching the film “Of Mice And Men” is it helps give a better understanding of how life was during the Great Depression. The visuals of the clothes the characters wear and the setting that they are in makes us believe that they are truly in the Great Depression while in the book they didn’t have many points to show this. I think this helps give a better understanding on why some characters had to make decisions that they did because in the book some decisions made by the characters were questionable, but in the film it clearly shows why they had no other choice.
The movie also shows the main themes that are seen in the novella for example, the film shows the theme of friendship, dreams, and loneliness. The film manages to show the important scenes that were in the story as well as adding new scenes that help us get a better understanding of some of the characters. Watching the movie can also help you see details that you might have missed in the novella through the tone of voice of the actors or the movement of the characters.
Overall, the film “Of Mice And Men” is a great movie to watch if you have read the novella or are planning to. The film manages to capture the key moments in the story while adding their own scenes that builds tension between the characters. The actor’s performances bring the characters to life and it helps build an understanding between you and the character. All of these factors are what make this film such an amazing movie to watch.
