The Weight of Change By: Anushka Bhatt

 The Weight of Change

By: Anushka Bhatt

Maria stood in front of the mirror, frustrated. For years, she’d bounced between diets and guilt, trying to shrink herself into someone new. But the more she fought her body, the heavier everything felt—physically, emotionally, mentally.

Everything shifted after a rainy Saturday workshop on emotional eating. At first, she was skeptical. But as others opened up about eating to numb boredom, stress, or loneliness, Maria saw herself in their stories.

Food wasn’t just about hunger. It was how she coped with anxiety, chaos, and insecurity.

With support from a therapist and a nutritionist, Maria began unlearning her habits. She stopped labeling food as “bad” or “good.” She learned to eat without shame, to move without punishment, and to see her body not as a problem, but as something worth caring for.

One quiet afternoon in the park, she realized she wasn't obsessing over calories or control. She was just... okay. And for the first time in a long time, that was enough.

Healing isn’t about fixing your body—it’s about understanding it, forgiving it, and finally, respecting it.
