Anxiety, a poem by Alyssah Alvarez

 My heart beats fast

As people walk past

I worry they’ll see

The nervous in me

All the thoughts in my mind

Race, as I try to find

A way to deal

With this weight that feels so real

I breathe in slowly, hold it tight

Hoping to make it through the night

I feel exhausted and drained

As the weight of worry remains

My thoughts feel so strong

Though I know they won’t last long

Because inside my mind

I am full of courage, I have yet to find
