Why the American Government is So Important, by Shreyansh Dubey

Why the American Government is So Important

Since the Great Recession, which caused mass unemployment disasters back in 2008, the

people of our country have been keen to point fingers at the government and question the very

motive of its existence. The government was made to serve the people of this country, and it has

been good at upholding its promises to the very day. This is directly evident in the signing of the

Healthcare and Climate Act, which was made to improve and enhance healthcare care insurance,

and funded research towards fighting climate change. The signing of the new budget in New

Jersey, which is inclined towards granting money to low-income families, especially the ones

earning under 200k per year, also highlights the government's intentions. All these events further

prove that although mistakes have been made, the American Government protects and provides

for the common good of the people by providing them with the necessities and aid that they

deserve.

While our government made considerable progress in 2021–2022, it would be wrong to

dismiss the poor decision-making in a recent event involving the pursuit and shooting of 25-year-

old Jayland Walker. It is true that on Monday, June 27, 2022, the local police fired around ninety

rounds, inflicting sixty injuries on Walker. He did, according to the police, fire a shot from his

vehicle during the pursuit, but he was defenseless at the time he was killed (Andone). The

"overkill" of Jayland Walker is undoubtedly an incident that the government is not proud of, but

despite that, the government still makes every effort to keep us safe and give us the resources we

need to succeed.

The government offers numerous services for the benefit of the people. They enact laws

and bills that have the potential to ease the anguish of various Americans. The Climate and

Healthcare Act, which President Joe Biden signed on August 16, 2022, was one of many key

events that occurred over the past year. It included 375 billion in investments to combat climate

change and several relief funds for Medicare and healthcare insurance. These funds were used to

cap OTC medicine prices at $2000 and would help around thirteen million citizens pay for

healthcare insurance. By taxing large businesses and people with high-income rates, the proper

amount of affluence would be collected. This bill would also help advance energy-efficient

technology, like solar power plants, and reduce the number of greenhouse gasses released by

various equipment (Kim and Miller). Thousands of homes around the country will benefit from

these facilities since they are well-planned and supported. Using fewer fossil fuels will benefit

not just our people but also the environment. In addition, Phil Murphy's state administration in

New Jersey has unveiled a multibillion-dollar budget to assist low-income families in paying the

inflated cost of gas and other expenses for everyday life and education. In addition, the

administration declared that the budget would result in a reduction in the average property tax

rate to a level not seen in more than a decade (Catalini). By offering public incentives like these,

the government gives low-income families struggling to support themselves and their loved ones

more room to improve their situation and embark on a new life. These resources are the reason

so many people are content with their current circumstances since they now understand that the

government is supporting them.

Passing bills and laws are not the only thing the government does that is helpful for the

people. There are also judges who promote righteous actions and settle disputes in our everyday

lives. Governors pass bills that help the citizens financially. The president constantly strives to

make the country a better place by spending billions on healthcare and the environment.

Although it can sometimes make blunders, the government deserves all the credit there is to offer

because of how dedicated it is to making our world a better place.
