You Are, a poem By Difan Li

 You Are

By Difan Li

You are the peal of laughter,

Breaking through my gloom.

You are the gleam of starlight

In my darkest, lonesome nights.

You are the streaks of dawn

That dusts my colorless skies.

You are the last rays of light,

That make the waters turn,

Into a sea of liquid gold.

You are the warmth and comfort

Of returning home,

And the smile of the moon.

While you are all that and more,

You are also the eraser shavings,

From my mistakes.

And mathematical equations,

That cause my head to throb.

You are the complex puzzle

That lies scattered in pieces

Of random colors and shapes.

But don’t worry, though I don’t always show it,

Though I’ve turned my back,

Through thick and thin you’ve stood beside me,

And I’m here to tell you...

You’re the peal of laughter,

The gleam of starlight,

And  the streaks of dawn,

That dusts my colorless skies.
