Winter, a poem by Sahana Sunilkumar

Winter

by: Sahana Sunilkumar

There is something special about winter,

where you just feel the structure of a landscape, the loneliness of it.

The stillness of the frozen air heightens each of the senses.

The glimmering blanket of snow

complementing the glorious purple twilight!

Winter snowflakes flutter around like

butterflies in its idyllic misty mornings!

Oh! Those Winter walks and those

Amazing cozy nights by the fire!

Winter! You make the world seem so quiet.

When your first breeze blows through

One can feel the charm and allure in the air!

You bring out my inner Chionophile!

Your giant trees are bending and their

bare sprigs weighed with snow.

Crisply your bright snow whispers.

You are cold....

yet you bring out some hidden apricity!

You dazzle me by being loquacious.

You seem so full of languor, yet you are buzzing with comfort!

You seem to be flooded with silhouettes

although some can spot your true beauty!

You are a big picture with small detail.
