Heaven, a poem by Shivali Pandya

 Heaven

The feeling of cool stratus clouds

brushing past the loose strands

of my hair

as my lifeless body

moved towards

a hue of neverending sky blue.

The burden of loss

regret

and

uttermost

desolation

overwhelming me

as I wished for a chance

to hold his hand

one

last

time.

And finally my body rested

atop a rain-filled cloud.

Though I am not sure if its weight

was from the sky,

or my own heart sinking,

piercing the white-colored foam I rested upon.

Slowly I felt

my body giving up.

My muscles disparted

my skin dissolved

and I vanished,

deep into the bright blue sky.

What’s left of me

lies bottled up

beside whom I desire to be with

forever

and

all eternity.

My dear grandpa.
