Hollow Sphere, a poem by Abhinav Aradhi

Hollow Sphere

The world stands on thin legs,

Threatening to collapse at all times.

One little gale force breeze,

And down goes our earthen Mother.

Evil comes in hidden figures,

Sheltered behind pure effigies.

Sin, guile, greed, strife,

All covered under a glitzy umbrella.

Everytime a person is denied

The right to live for factors beyond their control.

The Earth heaves a little,

And tremors fluctuate across the globe.

Vultures circle the planet,

Picking off corpses of those long forgotten.

Their cries for help unheeded,

Their throats strangled by want.

When you can’t live for being

A certain shade or two.

When you can’t live for loving

Whomever between pink and blue.

Perhaps we are beyond assistance,

For every small crawl forwards

Leads back to the beginning.

Life is but a perpetual, wicked cycle.

Voices get drowned out,

Whole groups go ignored.

Look past the genocides and war crimes,

Say those sitting on gilded thrones.

Look past the sheer hatred and fury.

Look past the murders and terror.

Look past the slaughtered shaded fractions.

Look past the shattered rainbows.

Something sinister’s always afoot

After all, we live under a big star.

Blinded by the force of its lux,

We often forget about the evil under the sun.
