Movie Review of Black Widow by Varshiini Ramesh

 Movie Review of Black Widow

Hello to the Marvel fans out there! I would highly recommend Marvel’s Black Widow to all Marvel fans, including people who aren’t Marvel fans because of how intricate the plot is, even if it was a small flashback. For those who’ve watched Avengers: Endgame, you all know that Natasha Romanoff dies in Avengers: Endgame, so this movie is a flashback from a part of her life. This movie starts off with two Russian soldiers, Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostokoff, posing as a family with two girls who are Natasha Romanoff and Yelena Belova. Alexei’s mission was to steal S.H.I.E.L.D. intel, but once the mission was over, Natasha and Yelena were sent to the Red Room for training. Years later, the “family” meets again after finding out that General Dreykov, the Red Room’s leader, was using a chemical mind control process to control the widows. It’s up to Natasha, and her “old family” (Yelena, Alexei, and Melina) to team up and continue from where they left off to free the innocent widows. Throughout this spy, adventure-filled movie, Natasha has to face her past where she had left with broken relationships, and how she learned that it’s better to have someone fight with you rather than pushing them away and fighting by yourself. I really liked this movie because they portrayed Natasha as a heroic person since her experience from her past showed how resilient she was. The movie also showed how family can help you in tough times, whether you expect it or not, and family is family no matter what. Yelena, who was played by Florence Pugh, helped very much to bring Natasha’s description of her “family” with her acting, and it made the scenes very vivid for viewers to relate to. The movie had some humor which I enjoyed, and it was very action-packed. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and I’m sure all Marvel fans will feel the same way when they watch this movie. I would rate this movie a 9/10.
