Coronavirus testing thoughts by Philip Samuel

I think soft rolls of cotton placed under the tongue is a great way to test if someone has Coronavirus. This is beneficial because it does not make people uncomfortable while testing. For example, children can be very easily discomforted by objects going deep up their nose. Whereas the cotton rolls will simply be placed under the tongue where the children won’t feel much discomfort. The cotton rolls capture saliva, which “includes all fluids in the mouth,” (Kowalski). This can help find the Coronavirus in someone’s body easier.

Soft rolls of cotton are also safer than cotton swabs on a stick. For example, if a child moves their head around too much because of discomfort then the cotton swab could potentially damage their nose. Whereas a roll of cotton can not harm the child even if they move their head around. This can prevent other medical problems from occurring while testing. It also allows the child to be able to breathe easier if they have respiratory related medical conditions.
