Would the Founding Fathers Enjoy seeing America Like This? by Dev Thaker

Would the Founding Fathers Enjoy seeing America Like This?

Former president Ronald Reagan once declared, “‘Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives’” (Reagan). From signing the Declaration of Independence to the landing on the Moon, America has been known for various instances in which they’ve been exceedingly successful to change the lives of Americans. Throughout history, the people of the United States have always depended upon the protection provided by the government. Numerous events that America has participated in are extremely historical, as countless schools speak on them today. America is a country of opportunities, freedom, and diversity. It is also built upon the strong values that were passed by our founding fathers. Just within 300 years, America has done so much for the people as they should be recognized for their great work. Our founding fathers of the US consisted of a group of politicians and philosophers from the 13 colonies who led the American Revolution against Great Britain. They wished for a country that is a place of freedom where everybody is treated equally. The Declaration of Independence lists life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as natural rights, which is under the natural law. Additionally, the founders wished for an equal amount of power among the government. They simply feared the abuse of power because they believed that only by limiting the government, which could survive the natural tendency of men to dictate the habits of other men. This will result in tyranny as it was recommended for the separation of powers to be present. This is the reason why we have a system of checks and balances today. Humans have the basic right to life, liberty, and property in a state of nature. However, the recent police brutality on innocent human beings has caused mental trauma among the community. America’s opportunities are significantly noticed by countless people, as they migrate to this land of dreams. Recently, the event regarding George Floyd was a tragic event as it led to various impactful protests. In this event, the rights of George Floyd were truly violated as he was murdered due to racial inequality by Minneapolis Police. Floyd’s neck was pressed using the officer’s knee for about 9 minutes. (Coleman) As a result, weeks of protest arose relating to the topic of racism. However, these protesters were considered looters and thieves by many officials. Some were even charged and taken into custody. Our founding fathers wished for equality among all people. We know this through the event of the Boston Tea Party of 1773. In this event, American protesters climbed onto three British Ships and dumped over 300 chests of tea to oppose the British government (“Taxation Without Representation”). From the two examples above, we can see that the community had opposed the oppressive form of government. While our fathers would be disheartened by the above situations, they would also be pleased that the American people know to fight for their rights. According to the first Amendment, all people have the right to express their opinions, which falls under the freedom of speech and religion. In conclusion, America has embraced various cultures and ways of life. Americans can freely enjoy their various rights under different written documents. Multiple opportunities are also available, which help in their future development. The founding fathers of the US wished for a country of freedom, diversity, and culture. Therefore, America will always stay as one of the greatest places in the whole world.
