Twilight fanfiction: Charlie Meets Bella P1 by Saanvi Kunisetty

 Twilight: Charlie Meets Bella P1

Saanvi Kunisetty

I ventured down the winding pathway in my truck as the forestry thickened and the darkness slowly overtook the light. Hmph, ironic. Did they have to keep their house in the most remote location possible, hidden away from the rest of Forks? I continued this way until I finally reached a towering and classy house, stunningly different from the damp and rainy weather and shabby old buildings found in the rest of the town. Lustrous and iridescent metal framework, glossy wooden structure, intricate door design- it spoke of some outlandish mansion in Las Vegas.

With a deep sigh, I trudged out of the truck and stomped toward the front door. I paused, weighing my emotions, something I wasn’t quite used to. You could say I’m not a sentimental fellow. On one hand, my heart was pounding at the prospect of seeing Bella again. After all, how could a father not yearn to see his daughter’s face for the first time since her wedding? On the other hand, I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck sticking up at the thought of Jacob’s little performance, along with his warning. For God’s sake, how could Bella be even more unusual than her furry little wolf-friend? Who knew what that Cullen boy had done to her? Sure, he loved her- I could literally feel his love for her in his presence- but I knew there was always something a little off about that boy.

I composed myself and tried (pointlessly) to form a slight smile. Then, I knocked three times. Knock knock knock. It was abrupt but unsure. The door flew open unnaturally quickly (like it always was with Edward), and who was there but Edward himself. My forced smile immediately dissolved as though it had got caught in quicksand, and I awkwardly nodded my head at him.

“Come in, Charlie,” he greeted me in that smooth voice of his, and I stepped onto the marbled floor.
