Coping With the Pandemic as Teens
Saanvi Kunisetty
The pandemic has been hard-hitting on all of us, whether it be going through losses, feelings of isolation and loneliness, or just yearning to go outside and go back to what was once the norm. Many teens have also been suffering from a lack of social interaction with their peers. Here are a few teenagers’ advice on how to cope with the rising levels of stress that comes with the pandemic.
Suhaylah Sirajul-Islam:
A teenager from Brooklyn, New York, Suhaylah has been feeling the effects of being a teenager in quarantine. With the loads of schoolwork and dealing with sick family members with COVID, life hasn’t been easy for her. She has learnt to accept what is going on in life, to accept, and acknowledge that she will be okay- that things will become better.
Sunnina Chen:
Sunnina Chen, residing in our own state of New Jersey, has perhaps the most simple advice to follow- breathe. Feeling stressed? Just take five deep breaths. Throughout quarantine, with the unexpected responsibilities and uncertainties, this is the mantra she tells herself- “just breathe.”
