Elizabeth Acevedo

Elizabeth Acevedo is a famous Dominican poet and writer, one of the most famous these days. She is best known for writing the book The Poet X, along with many other masterpieces such as Woke and With the Fire on High.
Acevedo was born on February 15th, 1988, to Dominican immigrant parents. She was born in New York. When she was very young, she actually wanted to be a singer, or perhaps a rapper. Unfortunately, she found she wasn’t very good at this. Soon, her passion for poetry and writing began to develop.
Throughout her stages of childhood and education, she attended Beacon School, University of Maryland, and George Washington University. She even became a national champion in the poetry slam competition.
Acevedo is now married to Shakir Cannon Moye, and is a successful and established writer.
