Rocket League is a game where you play soccer with rocket-powered cars. Using jumps, flips, and rocket boosts, teams of up to four jet around the field, trying to slam a massive soccer ball into the net. It's a simple but fun premise, and it's especially fun with friends as you laugh at each other for driving around the ball and scoring own goals. The chaotic mess of up to eight cars dribbling, blocking, and shooting on the field is accompanied by a competitive flair, as close games come down to the last minute, and both teams frantically protect their goal while launching desperate offensives. While beginners will likely have difficulty simply hitting the ball with their car, more skilled players will be able to intercept shots midair, utilizing the rocket boost in the game to make their car fly. It's incredibly impressive to see the tricks people pull off in the game, ranging from upside-down midair shots to aerial dribbles that span half the field. It's a very difficult game to master, and the aerial aspect of the game gives the game more depth than just driving around into the ball. Rocket League also has countless customization options, with customizations including your car's body, its wheels, its paint job, its boost, and its engine sound. The various cosmetics give the game an extra bit of flavor as each game has a ferrari spitting bubbles out of its exhaust or a monster truck emitting flames. Rocket League has recently become free to play, which makes it more accessible than ever. It's a very fun game to play both casually and competitively, and definitely worth a shot, especially if you can round up a few friends to enjoy the chaos with. 9/10.
