Review of Attack on Titan by Chandler Wang
Attack on Titan is one of the most popular anime in recent years, and for good reason. The show is incredibly strong in every area, with gorgeous animation, varied and intriguing characters, and an incredibly intricate, twisting plot. The world is crafted so immaculately that revelations about the world and the race of Titans that threaten it shock the viewer as much as it does the characters in the show. Even as more and more surprising discoveries are made, everything in the complex plot of Attack on Titan fits. If anything, each reveal is supported by everything that's already happened. Even when it seemed like a reveal couldn't be true, the more I thought about it, the more I realized how many things in the Attack on Titan world had pointed to it, even from the beginning. As I blazed through the show, I found myself lying in bed each night in shock, thinking about the last episode. The grimness of the show attaches you to each and every character and their own personal struggles and challenges throughout the show. The determination, despair, and anger of each character leaves its mark on the world of Attack on Titan and on the viewer. The plot and its characters weave a web of connections across the world of the show, enabling the world of Attack on Titan to change in an instant as the web folds, twists, and snaps. The gripping story of Attack on Titan is supported wonderfully by its concise but potent dialogue, its stunning animation, and its masterfully-crafted soundtrack. I genuinely have a hard time thinking of a single flaw in Attack on Titan show as a whole. The show is a masterpiece that blew me away. 10/10.
