A poem by Nidhi Ganghi "Glimpse of Our History"

It is a poem called "Glimpse of our History"

the goal was to show the British that we can live without dependence,

alone in the New World one ocean away,

in the 1170s we signed the Declaration of Independence,

and on that day we broke free from their rule in a land that we will lay,

we had nothing after breaking free

but found ourselves a solution,

after creating our first government,

we had the 1775 American Revolution,

though the Articles of Confederation set rules for them all,

there were still things that needed to be changed,

the original rules quickly took a fall,

1789’s Constitution a new set basic rules were arranged,

the country was thriving as well as it could,

but one event showed us many people’s greed,

lives were risked so that those who wanted to be wealthy would,

1848’s California Gold Rush surpassed limits in order to succeed,

started by declines in production and prices,

the number of failed banks increased every day,

leaving the people to make sacrifices,

in the 1930’s during the Great Depression’s stay

sweet children did more than anyone could believe,

taking the time to protest for their equal right,

it was amazing to see what was up these children’s sleeve,

their march through Birmingham in 1963 was quite a sight,

a terrorist group named Al-Qaeda attacked the twin towers New York City

hijacked planes soared through the air,

hitting the twin towers as passerby watched in pity,

for hundreds of lives were lost that day during the 2001 scare,

Sincerly,
Nidhi Gandhi
