Movies to watch by Isha Wagle

Movies to watch
Netflix and streaming services are what characterizes this current quarantine. That said, you might be running out of movies to watch. For your convenience, here are my views and summaries of a list of movies that I enjoy. Before we continue I should mention that my standards for movies are relatively low, so just because I think it is a good movie says nothing. I recommend you instead see if the descriptions fit something you might be interested in. For your convenience, I will also include where you can find the movie.
1.       Interstellar. This movie is an intense space movie that is very long. It is not horror type scary with creepy dolls whose eyes fall out but it is still gripping and thrilling. The movie is a fun one. It has a lot of thought behind it and is an intellectual movie. The subject matter it surrounds is extremely unique and it opens your eyes to ideas you could have never imagined. It has famous actors like Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and more. It deals with the idea of space and time and the entire premise is a team searching for a solution to save humanity in space. The movie is extremely interesting and you will be glued to your screen the entire time. If you are not a fan of movies where you have to think about it a little bit and instead want to turn your mind off and watch a relaxing fun movie, you might not enjoy this film. You can find this movie on Hulu and SlingTV if you have a subscription. You can get this movie for $2.99 on YouTube, Google Play, Vudu and Amazon Prime Video. For $3.99 you can find this movie on iTunes.
2.       Inception. Inception has a star studded cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page and more. The film will completely change how you see your world. Well, more specifically, you dreams. The movie takes place in a world where everything is the same as our earth except people can go inside other people’s dreams. This might sound a bit weird but the entire idea is shown very realistically and the concept is explained well. People are trained and hired to do jobs by companies similar to assassins. They have to extract ideas from prominent figures in order to help their employer. They move around from job to job and the main character is trained in this work. However, one day he gets a client who asks for an idea to be placed in the dreamer’s mind instead of it being taken out. The journey this man goes on and the team he creates will keep you at the edge of your seat. Also, it will reveal things about your dreams that you have never noticed before and your point of view on dreaming shifts completely. This movie is on Netflix. It is also for $3.99 on YouTube, Google Play, Vudu, iTunes and Amazon Prime Video.
3.       The Social Network. Mark Zuckerberg is of course the man who created Facebook and this is a movie about him creating it and what went into it. It isn’t a documentary however. It is instead a based on a true story movie. The cast includes actors like Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake and more. The movie is quick paced and funny. You’ll be annoyed and angry and wowed. The movie can be a little bit confusing at times because it jumps between the past and a few years later. It is not a gripping or thrilling movie but it is a really good time. This was made before Zuckerberg was involved with the privacy scandal. You can find this movie on Netflix for free. You can find it on Vudu for $2.99. On YouTube, iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Prime Video it is $3.99.
4.       Good Will Hunting. Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben and Casey Affleck and Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd are all a part of this movie. It is an extremely thoughtful movie. The movie has this inexplicable feel that surrounds it. It follows a man named Will Hunting who is a genius but only works as a janitor. He talents are found by a math professor who wants to work with Will. However, in order for them to work together, Will must see a therapist. 7.       The Guernsey. Lily James is the main character in this wonderful movie. It is set during World War 2 on a German occupied island. The movie is simple but elegant. The plot is interesting and full of romance and detail. The movie seems simple and boring but for me, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it turned out to be. Though the movie is set in a historical time period, you won’t be bogged down by all of the history of it. Everything is explained fully which makes it an enjoyable watch. It is a very cute movie with lovable characters. You can find this movie on Netflix.
8.       21. A movie about blackjack might not seem as interesting but it is the perfect con movie. It is witty and its cool to see how all of the characters’ brains work.
