Have you ever felt anxiety so bad it felt gut-wrenching? Or had the jitters so bad you couldn’t even make it to the door? Well as a new freshman to the high school, I definitely experienced that whirlwind of emotions. When you first walk through the doors of the unknown, reality hits you like never before. So, I have written about some of the best tips that can help you survive HighSchool.
To start, make new friends. I know that you probably heard that everywhere, but it’s true. Blend in but be unique at the same time. Being popular doesn’t matter as long as you have people around you. Remember you are not the only clueless one there. All the other incoming freshmen are as terrified and lost as you are, so might as well make a new friend while trying to find your first block class, in what might feel like, a massive building. It is said that once you make a friend in Highschool, they will be your loyal companion for the rest of your life. Not to mention the fact that you are not gonna have many classes with your friends, making a new familiar face or two might come in handy.
My next tip is to be on top of your game, as in, to always keep track of managing time properly. The transition from Middle to High school is so much harder than you would think. All of a sudden, days are spent studying and stressing. Weekends feel like a long-awaited refugee. So, to carefully handle all your responsibilities, make a list of some sort. Buy a planner of some sort or write down a do-to list, it’s easier to concentrate if you have everything written down on paper. Believe me, when you finally get to check off a tick mark on your list, it’s the best feeling in the world.
But the most important out of all is not to force yourself. What I mean by that is, most people think that the moment you walk into high school, you need to start planning your future and eventually, your career. My advice would be to go with the flow and when the time is ripe, take your fateful decisions. Don’t let others influence your options, once you are committed to something, stick with it.
