Silence in the Library, a poem by Mridula Murugan

 Silence in the Library

By: Mridula Murugan

Silence settles

between the shelves—

no one speaks,

but everyone’s

listening.

Pages turn,

soft as breath,

chairs scraping,

a light footstep

and thoughts rise

louder than sound.

Even time slows,

careful not to break

what’s quietly

becoming.

The quiet sounds

of a story

beginning.
