One TV show that you need to watch is Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a funny, fast-paced show that has many emotional and funny moments with relatable characters. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is about the daily life of a group of detectives who work at the NYPD. The main characters are Jake Peralta, Amy Santiago, Charles Boyle, Terry Jefford, Rosa Dias, Michael Hitchcock, Norm Scully, Raymond Holt, and Gina Linetti. The show focuses on the struggles of these characters and highlights the strong relationships they have with each other, while also providing funny situations that can make anyone laugh and smile. Brooklyn Nine-Nine can take any “exchange from mildly amusing to laugh-out-loud funny” (Thoman). For example, when Charles and Terry show up to work wearing the same clothes, the group makes it a competition to see who wears the outfit better. The group also creates games and competitions that are entertaining to watch and can make the audience put their full attention on the show. The characters’ delivery of their lines and the way they approach the different situations and police cases create hilarious and light-hearted moments that can cause anyone to laugh. The show makes it very clear that the detectives are just trying to have fun while also doing their job and they take the audience with them on that comedic journey. This show can put people in with its lovable characters and witty comments and make the audience eager to watch the next episode.

Even though this show is a comedy, it has many heartfelt moments that show the struggles and relationships of the characters and how they grow through the seasons. In Brooklyn Nine-Nine, emotional scenes are “not injected with forced comedy, and therefore the entire show feels so much more genuine” (Di Leo). For example, when Jake and Amy had their child, their whole friend group showed up and supported them, or when Amy was trying to take the lieutenants test, but she got scared and her friends talked her through it and assured her that she would do well. These senses show that the group is always there for each other when their friends are happy or are struggling. The situations the show portrays are also very realistic, which makes the audience feel like they are living through the moments with the characters and feel like they can connect to the problems and achievements of the characters. These moments create a connection between the audience and the characters because they can relate to the personalities of the different characters and the way they move through their lives and handle their problems. The heartfelt moments in Brooklyn Nine-Nine can be relatable to the audience, and they highlight the aspect that friendship and family are everything.
