Catfight, a poem by Abhinav Aradhi

Catfight

A scratching post,
Stood tall and firm,

As you clawed it with your feline vigor,

And we all stared in horror.

And with your razors out,

You stalk towards us,

Sinewy muscles caked

In makeup.

Stay back, foul beast!

We shall besmirch your reputation

With cries of whorish behavior,

And then you shall bleed lipstick.

Give me a S, like the sirens on the horizon!

Give me a L, like the lethargic way you run!

Give me a U, for you are a despicable creature!

Give me a T, for the way the earth tremors at your step!

March away, queen of clubs,

The forgotten suit,

The red card incarnate.

Off with our heads and all.

Your feminine wiles won’t work here,

And your wicked lies shall all perish.

You can claim desperately,

But it’s all for naught.

Why should he lie, darling?

Why would a respectable man like him

Do such a wicked act as what you protest?

You reputation-staining freak!

Asking for it!

You were pleading for it,

In a pleated skirt and a crop top.

Should have covered up from the cold.

Who wears skirts in winter?

And who gets raped in the winter?

Everyone knows it's too cold then.

It’s far too cold.

And why would he have done that?

Why didn’t you fight back?

Why didn’t you put out the cat claws

You are brandishing right now?

Why didn’t you say something earlier,

You catty woman?
