Selfless

To wish upon a star is cruel,

For a star is a poor little creature.

Don’t saddle it with your dreamy burdens,

You selfish thinker.

 

Don’t tell me about your issues,

Because I don’t care a bit.

Don’t dump your toxic woes on me,

You selfish thinker.

 

Who cares if you can’t find love?

The rest of us have captured it handily.

You’re just unlovable I guess,

You selfish thinker.

 

Trapped by your wardrobe?

Stymied by a wicked society?

Irrelevant! It’s all irrelevant,

You selfish thinker.

 

Be humble, be passive.

Be a doormat, my shoes need cleaning.

Let me stomp you underfoot like leaves,

You selfish thinker.

 

Isolation is killing you?

Let it, you’re hardly its sole victim.

Being alone is mandatory,

You selfish thinker.

 

You say we revolve on an axis,

That inverts right on itself.

I say you’re crazy,

You selfish thinker.

 

You begged us for help,

You gave desperate pleas.

No one listens to you,

You selfish thinker.
