Peer Pressure Throughout Life
Peer pressure does not stop. I have seen how peer pressure starts from childhood and lasts until adulthood. It starts as something simple, such as a kid joining a sport they do not like because their friends insist. It continues to teenager years when teenagers decide to skip class because their friends want to hang out with them. Then it transfers to adulthood, where adults feel pressured to follow certain careers because their friends are all doing it or raise their kids a certain way because their friends insist that it is the best way. Research has shown that it is more difficult to resist peer pressure at adulthood when it is something an individual has never fought against before (Fontenot). Although the individual has grown up, the specific instances and situations are different which makes it more difficult for people to stop giving in to the continuous pressure (Fontenot). That is why, I believe it is extremely important to resist peer pressure. Although it seems easy to just follow along or give in to their persuasion, it is more important to remain true to yourself and follow what you want and what you think is best.
