Magma: A Volcanoes Treasure, a poem by Sahana Sunilkumar

Magma:

 A Volcanoes Treasure

By: Sahana Sunilkumar

Nestled amongst the mountain,

shy and demure, hiding beneath your volcano friend.

Your beauty enthralling and ambient

leisurely and steadily getting

more and more volatile.

You wait patiently for the right moment...

...Slowly you build up and rise.

You then pour out along with

the secrets of the crust and mantle,

illuminating the night sky with your neon glow!

Hissing, rumbling and roaring your cries fill the empty night.

You release all your wrath engulfing

everything in your path!

In seconds your ashes claim the sky.

You are spontaneous and wild,

The destructive beauty of your breathing flame is astounding.

You are beautiful and frightening at once

After years of hiding, you finally escape

the clasp of the earth, stretching and expanding

As you hit the air and cool down

you are reduced to smouldering embers.

In a moment your glowing embers dissipate,

leaving behind a path of desolation.

You came out to cleanse the world,

leaving your home innocently,

to perform the only task you know.

Magma, you are so special,

you are shuddered at, yet you don't seem to care
