If I Was A Place…
Saanvi Kunisetty
If I were a place, I would be the sea. My surface glitters with anticipation and ambition of an adventurous future, scintillating gloriously during the day. My passions are vast and seemingly never-ending, and the bubbles of my vigor and vivacity rise up to the surface. Deep beneath the crashing waves and my tumultuous exterior, which radiates a sense of exuberance, lie the murkier waters. The dark provides refuge for the flaws that cannot afford to be brought to light. Though I know that they should be revealed, I struggle to let go of my domineering grasp on them. They gather together amidst the engulfing darkness, forming shadows of my suppressed sorrow and grief, withheld anger and hatred. Yet, buried under this cold, the savored sediments of childhood memories, and the precious pearls of cherished times can be found, if only one takes the care to look deep enough. As the sun sets, darkness falls and cold fills the air. Still, I, the sea, become warmer than ever before, a safe haven for those who seek shelter.
