Eternals Movie Review

Recently, Marvel released the movie Eternals, based off of its previously written comic series. It narrates the story of a group of programmed robots who are essentially like humans, but immortal and incapable of aging. They are tasked with the duty of protecting all humans on Earth and warding off danger. They come to realize that they have been programmed to do this not out of good-will, but to prepare humans for slaughter. The energy released in the destruction of all human life will be enough to power the emergence of a celestial being. The group turns against one another, as some fight to prevent the emergence, while others fight for it.

Overall, the movie was quite interesting. The backstory, the creativity, and the uniqueness to the plot was something that is often only found in Marvel movies. Still, it wasn’t one of the best. Firstly, it was confusing to grasp and understand. Aside from paragraphs of background information that were thrown at you on the screen before the movie began, the plot itself wasn’t depicted in a clear manner. Oftentimes, you found yourself questioning what was going on, why a certain character was reacting a certain way, and more. Regardless, the movie did encompass all the elements necessary, from action and romance to thrill and comedy. The cliffhanger, too, was quite intriguing, and has definitely prompted me to be on the lookout for the follow-up movie. Ultimately, I would definitely recommend watching the movie.
