A Few Facts About 9/11
Saanvi Kunisetty
There was actually a reason for Usamah Bin-Laden’s attack on America, though in no way does that justify the crimes he committed. Bin-Laden, and many other Muslims, were offended and oppressed by Americans invading their region, ideologies, and beliefs. Sacred landmarks of their religion were being taken over by Americans, resources from the land were being depleted, and residents of the region were being terrorized. Bin-Laden was angered by America disregarding Muslim people and beliefs, and following the words of Allah (as Bin-Laden interpreted them to be meant), he warned that he and his people would fight against those who refused to believe in Allah and devote themselves to Him.
September 11th brought significant change to Afghanistan. First and foremost, the Taliban had finally fallen. Many reporters went to take note of and record Afghanistan after this significant change. The role of females was further valued after the Taliban fall. Women began to learn to drive, and girls finally had the opportunity to attend school and receive an education.
One of the major after effects of the 9/11 attack was rather surprising. Perfectly healthy individuals were identified to have cancer. It is suspected that many cancer-causing chemicals and carcinogens were released on the day of the attack, providing us with probable cause for why so many people were diagnosed with cancer.
