Opinions/Information on E-books vs. Physical Copy of Books by Varshiini Ramesh

Opinions/Information on E-books vs. Physical Copy of Books

Everyone has their own thoughts about books when asked to describe what books are to them. For me, books are something that can make me relaxed when I’m stressed since they take me to a whole other world where reality isn’t considered. There isn’t just one way to read a book since you could really choose whatever format you want based on your comfortability/interest (e-books or physical copy).

To start off, e-books have the advantage of font style and flexibility since you can choose to read how you feel like. Plus, you can also make text bigger on your device with this feature so that you don’t have trouble reading it. Also, e-books are very easy to transport since it’s not that heavy, and you can actually take it everywhere you go if you’re obsessed with reading. Finally, readers have the advantage of storing more than thousands of books at a time on their device if they’re using e-books, while it’s hard to own a lot of physical copies of books if you don’t have that much space. You need to charge your device often in order to read, so it’s difficult to not read for a long time if my device runs out of charge. Finally, e-books have the advantage of portability and the ability to change the layout of the book for our comfortability.

Physical copies of books have more limitations compared to e-books, but are equally good resources for reading books. Physical books have the feel which most readers adore such as feeling the pages, and actually physically interacting with the book is very fun. On the physical copies of a book, you have more chances to look at the pictures and actually experience the story without a time constraint (ex: charging your device for an e-book). Additionally, you mostly won’t experience straining your eye when reading since you’re not reading off a device, but on paper. Physical copies of books can be used for annotating if felt like, and it can also help for reading comprehension for tests since you can flip back to the page you need unlike scrolling on you e-book. Even though they might be heavy to carry, it will help you visualize the concept/story more vividly since you’re looking at it directly instead of through a device. Therefore, physical copies of books have the advantage of having the feel of a book so we could experience the storyline more vividly, and have more understanding about it.

In conclusion, both types of books are effective depending upon what we prefer. Though both have their own disadvantages, they have their own unique characteristics that will ensure that we enjoy reading.
