#3: Lionel Messi

Messi has consistently hit the best standards with F.C.Barcelona in la Liga since his debut in 2003. He is a proven goalscorer and great assister, along with his incredible ability to dribble through defenders. However, since 2016, he has failed to win the UEFA Champions League, suffering embarrassing exits in the process. Also, in La Liga, while he has been a top scorer and assister often, he has failed to win La Liga since 2018-19. Though he has been doing well, I would say that the fact he has not been doing well team-wise pushes him down this list. If I were to put him higher on this list, I would have probably liked to see him win La Liga and other team-related trophies instead of only winning individual awards. After all, soccer is a team sport. Still, massive achievements for a player who has no signs of slowing down even at the age of 34. Personally, I think that he still has plenty to offer like the next two players on this list, but he finds himself third on this list for me.

#2: Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski, the prolific striker who plays for F.C. Bayern München in the German Bundesliga has been on fire lately. He has been consistently hitting excellent goalscoring form, winning the Golden Boot in the Bundesliga five times. Last season, he scored an incredible 41 goals in the Bundesliga alone, breaking the record in the process. In the 2019-2020 season, he and Bayern won six trophies in that season alone! Personally, I am a huge fan of out and out goalscorers. The way these kinds of players work on the field to get themselves on the scoresheet is incredible, as it requires a lot of practice and focus to get the shooting and positioning techniques right. Lewandowski's goal-scoring threat and astonishing individual and team awards earn him a place in second.

#1: Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo and Messi have been fighting it out with each other to see who is the better player ever since they broke into the footballing world. However, for me, my number one would be Ronaldo. Ronaldo is an incredible player, with his speed, aerial ability, goalscoring threat, and overall presence in the team being his key attributes. The Juventus man has been in exceptional goalscoring form for Juventus, scoring 101 goals in just 133 games. He has won the UEFA Champions League five times and has also equaled the record for most goals scored in international soccer with 109 goals for Portugal. He has also won two titles with Juventus in Italy's Serie A, though Juventus' recent struggles in the Champions League and Serie A are evident. I really enjoy watching Ronaldo play, as his mentality and presence are one above the rest. He is always determined to score and help his team win. I also like how he can keep himself calm in tough situations, which allows him to turn games on their head. Though Ronaldo and Messi are both extraordinary players, I think that Ronaldo edges this one out because of his recent trophies and incredible ability to turn a game on its head. Ronaldo is my favorite player of all time because of his work ethic and the amazing ways he can score goals. I find it insane how he can consistently win the top honors soccer has to offer in so many top leagues. This is why Ronaldo is my first choice.
