Why You Should Watch ‘Tenet’
By: Mridula Murugan
Christopher Nolan’s Inception is a movie that continues speaking to you—even after the first watch. It bends time and reality, making you question what makes each action work. In this spy thriller, the flow of time flips in and out throughout the movie and provides you with enough motivation to start your second watch immediately after. You start to put pieces of the puzzle together as you go, identifying details that didn’t stick out to you the first time.
Even as bullets fly and cars go backwards at full speed, the movie never fails to provide the most cinematic experience. Due to its amazing sound design and authentic action, the film is made to make you feel every second of the experience, even with its complex scenes and amazing stunts. Christopher Nolan actually filmed a plane crashing into a building without CGI, which makes it sound even more impressive. Tenet truly is a visually spectacular movie. Every scene, from an opera siege to a car chase that moves forward and backward in time, feels authentic thanks to the use of IMAX cameras and the scenes being shot in several countries. You are drawn into the chaos by Ludwig Göransson's score and sound design. No matter how intricate the plot becomes, you are captivated by the sensory experience of experiencing the action rather than merely watching it.
Although the ‘temporal pincer’ sequences can be confusing, alternating between forwards and backwards in time, the actors and practical effects in the film definitely make it a worthwhile watch. Both John David Washington (the Protagonist) and Robert Pattinson (Neil) give great performances that you can perceive more nuance in as the plot continues to reveal new details. Tenet is worth seeing for the challenge as much as for the spectacle. It's one of the few blockbusters that demands you to reflect, go back, and reconsider everything you've seen. Beneath the temporal tricks, the story is about fate, loyalty, and the human tendency to control the uncontrollable. Tenet offers an experience that is both intellectually challenging and visually unforgettable, whether you prefer working out theories or simply watching movies that stick in your mind for a long time.
