Reflections on 2015 and thoughts for 2016 by Shweta Murali

2015 has passed by quicker than we can all imagine, and with 2016 just around the corner, many of us are looking forward to starting with a clean slate. Here are some tips to make 2016 the best it can be:

·  Try to stay fit. The most popular New Year’s Resolution is to get in shape, and most people end up breaking this pact by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around. The biggest reason for this is that they set unrealistic goals. Saying you want to lose 10 pounds in a week is highly unattainable and will not get you anywhere. Set achievable goals and work towards them. Don’t starve yourself or work out during all your free time, but try to maintain a healthy body so that you feel good about yourself.
·  Find a new hobby. We need to push ourselves to try something new, and it can be as simple as writing poetry, or as extravagant as learning a new language. Anything you want to learn that you find pleasure in is a great way to enjoy the New Year and feel accomplished.
·  Make a bucket list. Write down a list of things you want to do in 2016. Some examples are 1) watch a sunset on the beach 2) go skydiving 3) run a marathon. It can be anything, from something small to something daring and unbelievable. Just know what you want to do and strive to do it. At the end of the year, when you are able to check off everything on your bucket list, you will feel great.

While we will be upset to say goodbye to all the memories in 2015, just remember that we have a fresh start now. Change is a good thing.
